  • 240 million years: origins of Coastal redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens).
  • 20 million years: Coastal redwoods established along the Pacific coast.
  • 12,500 years: documented history of Kashia Band of Pomo peoples.
  • 2000 years: lifespan of Coastal redwood.
  • 1870’s: logging of virgin Coastal redwood forest at Salmon Creek.
  • 1950’s: logging and burning of second growth redwoods at Salmon Creek.
  • 1971: Salmon Creek Farm established as a commune on 33 acres on the Mendocino Coast.
  • Late 1980’s: the original commune gradually dissolves and cabins are rented out.
  • 2014: Artist Fritz Haeg purchases Salmon Creek Farm from the last 13 shareholding communards.
  • 2022: Non-profit 501c3 Salmon Creek Arts.
  • 2025: Salmon Creek Arts takes over year round programming and operations of SCF including Schools of Salmon Creek.
