As Salmon Creek Farm enters its 10th year of revival and re-imagining we
ask ourselves the question of access. Who can afford to be here?
Even when a visit is offered for free, who can afford to miss work, take a break from care-giving, plus food and travel? We have many folks in various ways over these years, often making it free or as affordable as possible. But this hasn’t been enough. By founding Salmon Creek Arts non-profit we aim to lower barriers wherever possible to artists* drawn to the land.
Our inaugural membership and fundraising drive hopes to raise $60k by April. This will get us started by supporting the first season, to initiate the Salmon Creek Artist Fellowship and then to support the programs that SCF has been offering informally for many years including writing retreats, food gardening & carpentry skill-shares, wood-fire ceramics workshops, and our BIPOC artists retreats through the rest of the year.
